Hey guys my GeForce 6,200 bit the dust, it is going to cost me $488.00 for the new Geforce 8800, so I wont be online for a while, hope all is going well and thankyou everybody for the B-Day comments. Feels good to be 21 again, lol....Yeah Right! Well talk to you soon I hope kill kill kill for me..
Forgive me if I just highlight the fact that F&L's game server and web server costs currently run at around £30 a month, and as such it's not difficult to predict that if the clan receives less than that each month, we'll fold before too long.
The last donations received by the clan were at the beginning of March, and as our bills are due on or around the 10th of the month, it's important to make sure we cover our costs before our server bills are due - so please dig deep into those capacious trouser (and dress) pockets - as every little donation to the clan helps.
I'll also send this message out to all clan members via e-mail, and see if we cant stave off the possibly inevitable shut-down of the clan by a few months :)
As always - you comments and criticisms are welcomed - either here as a comment, or in the forums.
I've updated Panzer_Pete, Gal, Venusia & Juffers forum clan tags to reflect the fact they're now retired, similarly I've added forum tags for Soap, Snipez, Potshot, Specter, Terrorist, Squeeshy and ForceRecon :)
If I've missed anyone out - or have wrongly marked someone as belonging to the clan who rather would not like to be - please just let myself, Marconi or Dale know, and I'll do my level best to get it sorted out.
It's nice to see new players coming along to play and I'm confident that if things carry on in the same spirit, we may even be able to start being able to pay the monthly server bills soon :)
(For those newer F&L'ers - we pay for our clan server by asking if members can make a small regular contribution via paypay - using the paypal button at the top right of the website).
Also, as you might have noticed, the transition for the clan to having a single 20 man dedicated 24/7 CoD 4 server and swapping over the clan web site to the new server is now completed :)
20-02-08 New Dedicated Cod4 Server in the process of being set up....
|
I'm currently in the process of setting up a *New Dedicated CoD4 Server* - for effectively what may well be the last couple of months of the F&L Clans existence.
I'm hoping that this won't be the end of the F&L Clan - rather a new beginning, but I'm not holding my breath.
E-mail notifications of the above have been sent to all existing registered F&L website members.
18-02-08 Poor Server performance ticket raised with Servelocity....
|
I've just raised a help ticket with Servelocity - regarding the recent problems with their server, which is detailed below - I will of course keep you all posted on my progress.
Meanwhile, please take the time to vote in the new Clan poll - regarding how you all want to proceed regarding whether we stick with Servelocity (assuming they fix it), and have the benefit of playing other games, like CoD UO or whatever - or whether we decide to change to a single dedicated game server and website - like Gameservers - and give up the ability to easily run other games - It's your call guys - I'm easy either way :)
*************************
Hello Servelocity,
Increasingly, over a period of time we've been experiencing poor performance from our Servelocity Unlimited server - as we use it as a Call of Duty 4 game server, amongst other things.
The number and type of running programs on the server however, have not changed, so I feel this is unlikely to be the cause of the problem.
I've asked my clan to keep a running record of these spells of poor performance, which are detailed below: _______________________________
2 Feb 2008 Really bad lag and server interruptions from 9:45pm onwards making the server unplayable. Members using it 10.
2nd Feb 2008, 00.23hrs after repeated occasional server yellows, it finally fell over. 4 people in server at time.
Saturday 16 Feb 2008, Server lag, then Server fell over at around 10PM. 4 People in server at the time.
Sunday 17th Feb, 6 Players on server with bad lag, this wasn't due to players joining. Still really bad at 7:30 pm just me there. Don't know if we'll get much of a clan night with it. _______________________________
I'd therefore please ask if Servelocity would be kind enough to migrate our virtual server onto another less heavily utilised machine, as soon as possible - as this usually cures the problem - albeit temporarily.
Please take the time to vote in the current poll, comments and multiple choices are allowed. The reason I've created this poll is that it would help me to know what to delete and what to leave on the secondary server, prior to moving the web site over onto it :)
Thanks gang, for all those F&L'ers (and others!) who showed up to help us stress test the Cod4 Server earlier this evening. Although I didn't get quite enough time in-game as I would have liked, it was certainly sufficient to prove that the Secondary server will be *good enough* to act as our primary web and game server - for the immediate future.
Additionally, spurred on by this revelation, and by the fact we have a few new members (me waves), I'll re-register the fandl domain name for the next couple of years and also start making preparations to start swapping our website over to the new server.
Just as a postscript, I'll add that Juffers made some suggestions for a map rotation on the server, and so I'll also try and get this implemented onto the server over the next day or so.
